EMH has been instrumental in several initiatives:
Authoring the Barcelona Charter (2003), which provides guidelines for preserving, restoring and using historic vessels and traditional boats.
Initiating the Wilhelmshaven Memorandum of Understanding (2005) for international travel on traditional ships.
Actively participating in drafting regulations and addressing issues surrounding the operation and licensing of traditional vessels.
Help define what constitutes a historic vessel, a traditional boat, or a classic yacht, and assess how such definitions can be incorporated into European and national legal frameworks.Identifying funding opportunities at the European level and having its foundation to support members' projects financially.
Collaborating with other sectors (e.g., railways, cars) to address environmental issues and the use of fossil fuels.
Organizing congresses, workshops, and other activities to promote knowledge exchange and networking.
