EMH has wholly ownership of a fully recognized charitable organization under German Law, “Stiftung Maritimes Erbe Europa”. The Charity is an unincorporated foundation under civil law in the fiduciary administration of European Maritime Heritage with a seat in Hamburg, Germany. The foundation exclusively and directly pursues charitable purposes in the sense of the section “tax-privileged purposes” of the Tax Code.

The purpose of the foundation is the promotion of art and culture, the protection of historical monuments, and the promotion of sports. The purpose of the foundation is realized in particular by the preservation of traditional historical watercraft in Europe, their operation, their restoration, the sail training, and the preservation of traditional maritime crafts. For this purpose, the voluntary operation and the preservation of traditional historic watercraft in Europe will be supported, the Europe-wide cooperation of national organizations including maritime museums in this field will be enabled, the preservation of forgotten traditional maritime crafts will be supported and the Sail Training, especially of young people from different European nations on traditional sailing ships will be enabled.
